My worry about your routes is the hills of Castle st and over Charleston. Together with crossing the canal. A line going out millburn to raigmore onwards to raigmore estate then across A9 to new prison site eastfield shopping splitting to a dalcross/ nairn and smithton/ culloden croy cawdor. There is still the bed of forres aviemore line (steam railway have their eye on it) can kessock bridge cope with losing lanes to tracks?
Longman has no public transport so at least a loop from millburn to harbour.
If you are going to lochend why not drum of fort Augustus? Dores also to FA. If there use the bed to span bridge, some walkers and cyclists might object, I think some of it is great glen way.
I may be thinking of further out than your plan, but we can only fantasise!
