Comment on Capital Creations by Simon

I love this idea. Having visited both Canberra and Washington DC I’ve had some experience of these kinds of places, and not necessarily the expected experiences. Canberra, for example, I didn’t find boring – I was, after all, serenaded by a pianist there! DC, meanwhile, shall forever be in my mind where there was nothing to eat. This isn’t because I’m fussy, but because we simply couldn’t find somewhere to eat (that wasn’t crazy, dining with ambassadors level) – we asked at tourist information, and they told us to go to West Virginia.

There’s some cracking destinations on that national Wikipedia page – I’d seize your chance now. I’d definitely use writing a book as an excuse to visit the likes of Nouakchott and Ngerulmud (the latter of which I’d never heard of).

The new capital of Equatorial Guinea I had heard of and fascinates me. The current capital Malabo is on an island…. nowhere near the rest of the country. Makes a lot of sense to move the capital back to the mainland.

Great idea, you say no chance of writing it, but I hope you do!
